Das Technik Museum SpeyerJust the hardware itself is interesting — especially being able to go inside the stripped-down , and the bigger submarine.
The reason I have given the low rating is that all of these exhibits are not very well served — as it explained or visible. The staff are friendly enough, and the food in the restaurant was quite good.
So if you are going to be thrilled by seeing a lot of this kind of thing — there is plenty to see. Half of the reason why we went was to see the IMAX film, which for the time we were there the best choice was the one with scenes from the moon - which was not very good as an IMAX presentations at all.
But to top it off there was absolutely no ventilation.. Who is thinking about that!? If they would spend a few Euros on better supporting info on the chi bits,aircondition the iMax, have better signage generally,it could be a great place.
Something for everyone at this museum and a lot of it hands on. Should be on everyone bucket list. Couldn't visit but on passing it looked very interesting.
They really do have a on a pedestal as per picture and it is possible to walk out on to the wing. In addition there are both railway and motor vehicles on display.
What a fabulous museum. Not expensive really considering what is here, and well worth a visit. In addition to the planes, boats, ships, submarines, cars, trains etc etc, there is a great space section which of course has the Russian Space Shuttle orbiter Buran.
You could easily spend a whole day here, and still find new things to look at at every turn. It was a short bus ride from Speyer city center, although ask the driver to shout out when the stop is - on our journey out there the computerised update of the next stops in the bus wasn't working right and we went straight past the museum and had to walk back for about 5 minutes.
If you're in Speyer, this is an absolute must. If you are within km, make the effort to visit it. This is a dream if you do like airplanes, cars, boats, space, trains etc.
Especially the is interesting to walk through and be able to see a lot of the things not normally visible. This Museum is amazing.
