As an example, they're using an ATLA version where Aangs critical injury at the end of book 2 is removed.

What is the bold faced lie?? I just went to watch the last episode of season 2 and the scene is still there. The version I saw had Aang enter the avatar state and Azula striking him with lightning, cutting out the resulting injury and apparent death of Aang.

I think you're remembering it wrong. Because that's what happens even in the original show. And on Netflix. Azula strikes him, he falls the ground and Katara catches him.

It's the same scene. I think Netflix had p versions and did their own upscale. My kids just started watching it, and it looks like they ran the entire series through a decomb filter even though the series isn't interlaced.

You'll notice tons of issues with any moving horizontal lines, which in my experience is from running a decomb filter on non-interlaced content.

I checked the second episode and it still has the deinterlacing artifacts. I believe the entire first season is like that. It seems to get better in the later episodes, though.
