I remember seeing this movie when it first came out and just loving it right from the start. It's happy at times, it's depressing at times, it's funny the whole time.
If you haven't seen this, you're behind the times. It's not the greatest movie ever made, but it's really really good. Cuba Gooding Jr absolutely steals the entire show though.
He's the only character in the whole movie who's honest with himself about who he is and what's important to him. As such he serves as Jerry MaQuire's moral compass.
Even Dorothy Zellweger tries to be someone she's not half the time. The whole "You had me at hello" scene is so iconic. It's super cheesy and VERY 's.
But it's an iconic movie scene and it works with the story. This movie was very touching to watch. Tom cruise knocked this role out of the park.
I think that this was a good lesson to watch for our family in learning on what is important on life. I say that because we do not just watch movies for entertainment, most have lessons in life weather good or bad.
This one shows a couple who clearly likes each other but has way to much in the way and has to learn lessons the hardway.

GREAT flick! I loved this movie. I just rewatched it, after seeing it probably eight years ago. First of all confession , I love almost all Tom Cruise does in his movies.
This movie is a great one, too, in terms of his character. This is a good story line, too. I usually hate sports movies, even though I was a college athlete.
This is usually because they show the sports stuff, and actors look to be below high-school-level competing in sports. This movie does a good job with the limited number of actual sports scenes it shows.
The sports stuff is just in the background. The character, Jerry, develops through the movie as a person.
You get to see his character develop and change over the course of the movie. In front of all these ladies, recently-separated Jerry opens his heart to Dorothy.
It's the tenderest of moments and the big pay-off to a great motion picture.
