Lobachevsky State University of Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia

Lobachevsky State University of Nizhniy Novgorod (UNN) founded in 1916 is one of the leading classical universities in Russia and achieved the status of a National Research University in 2009. UNN has 27 faculties, 122 departments and 6 research institutes. There are 47 Bachelor's programs, 56 Master's programs, 57 PhD programs and 24 post-doctoral programs. UNN has over 40,000 undergraduate and graduate students. 

The University of Nizhniy Novgorod (UNN) is an internationally recognised higher education institution. It is a member of the European University Association (EUA). UNN has direct contractual international relations with more than 25 universities and academic institutions. It participates with other European universities in consortia to implement a number of projects funded by the European Commission and other organizations such as Erasmus Mundus and Tempus joint European projects. UNN graduates may gain a European supplement to the Diploma of Higher Education, which follows the standards established by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. 

In 2013 UNN with other 14 Russian higher education institutions won the open contest for a special state grant for the implementation of activities that will contribute to the promotion of universities in the world university rankings.

UNN Faculty of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law are known for a long-term and fruitful cooperation with European higher education and scientific institutions which comes from the awareness that successful cooperation between Russia and the EU can be achieved only if carried out by professionals with in-depth knowledge of domestic and foreign policy, economy, social sphere in Russia, the EU and its members. 

Since 2012 Faculty of Social Sciences realizes the project “International Masters in Russian, Central and Eastern Europe Studies” (the Erasmus Mundus Masters Course). Since 2013 Faculty of International relations offers 4-year long Double Degree BA in International Studies in collaboration with Sciences Po (Paris Institute of Political Studies). UNN Faculty of Law realises project «Chaire Jean Monnet».
